Dingle Training report

4 Laser 2's rigged up, one mysteriously disappeared so we got going with 3. All so eager to get out we didn't even need a briefing. We set a small triangular course just outside the harbour mouth in a gusty force 3 and after a few rounds we did some upwind work, and then a long run with a few gybes thrown in for good measure. Louise and Lìs even threw up the spinnaker, much to their disadvantage...

Con and Lilly getting to grips with the boat managed to win one of the races after Louise and Lìs won the first. Phil and Sharlet took race 3.

Overall a fun day all round.

Laser II training session report

4 boats launched on Saturday June 17th 2006 for a sucessful session to kick of the years' Laser II sailing at Skerries Sailing Club; 10383 Kate Rainey / Ross Cadogan, 8357 Kate Grimes / Paul Ruigrok, 10115 Aimee Grimes / Conor Byrne & 8602 Mark Wilson / Dave Kelly.

After a lengthy discussion on rigging, trimming and donwind work, we hit the water for some upwind grinds, then a short triangle with tight reaches to test spinnaker handling in a flat sea with offshore force 3.

Afterwards we joined in the 3 club races, with a win each from Rainey/Cadogan, Grimes/Byrne and Wilson/Kelly.

A good way to wash all the sand out of the boat after the winter at least.

Please watch this space for further training dates. Next event up for Laser II's is the RSTGYC Regatta in Dun Laoghaire on the 1st July. There may also be some Laser II's at The RIYC regatta, also in Dun Laoighaire next weekend on the 24th June, watch the egroup or mail us for further info.
